I have always enjoyed fishing but have never craved for it as I do for big game hunting. That is until I found Fly Fishing. As an avid bow hunter I have found that Fly fishing is the bow hunting of fishing. My new passion is fly fishing for red fish on the Texas coast…………..

Texas Dove Hunts
Texas Dove hunts are a great way to spend time with friends and family.
What should you look for in a Dove Hunt? What should you ask the outfitter? Here are a few things you can expect and should be asking an outfitter.
– Before you call an outfitter have a budget in mind. Dove Hunts can range from a day hunt trip for $150 per hunter to $1,800 per hunter for a weekend package.
– Have an idea on how many hunters will be in your group. Some Outfitter will give you and your party the entire lodge and ranch exclusive on larger groups.
Picosa Paloma Ranch
We hunt over milo, doveweed, sunflower and sesame grain fields plus stocked ponds and flight paths. Picosa Paloma also offers over 1,000 acres of leased grain fields throughout the area. Our guides are constantly checking the fields to get hunters on the birds!

Shed hunting is my second favorite activity in the outdoors besides whitetail hunting. Its time I get to spend with my boys on the ranch. I explain it to them as the Easter egg hunt for antlers. Shed hunting also allows me the chance to see how many big bucks never showed there face this past season and to get a tape on their antlers.
Where do you look?
– Any Water
– Fence lines
– Creeks / Drains
– Protein feeders
– Food crops
– Game Trails
Some of these are pretty obvious but why check fence lines, creeks and drains. You want to check places where a whitetail will need to jump or exert energy. Any jolting can shake a bucks antlers loose.
Watch out for snakes while shed hunting! Good luck and happy hunting.
Instead of just sitting at a blind and praying that a shooter buck would come in we went out and did something we never had done before and in the end it was all worth it……………………………………..
25 Days till South Texas Whitetail Rifle Season!
-If you have not been to the gun range to sight in your rifle, you better do it now. Don’t wait till the week or day before because the lines will be long. Don’t wait to shoot your rifle in at your hunting ranch or lease. Keep it quite around your camp……………………click here for more info
